A Very Stylish Wedding

Friday 13th July was a very lucky day for the lovely Marie and Liam. I first met the happy couple last year on a cold December afternoon, little did we know then they would be marrying on one of the hottest days of the next year! The wedding took place at Brooksby hall, with an afternoon ceremony followed by an evening reception. Marie wanted the flowers to have a classy sophistication about them and I think the beautiful White Naomi Roses used to in her hand tied bouquet created this perfectly. The bridesmaids held smaller versions of the hand tied posy the bride held and the buttonholes complemented the whole theme of white roses and gypsophilia I wish this wonderful couple all the best for their future together as a young family, they has recently had a beautiful daughter who I had the pleasure of meeting as I delivered the button holes! Buttonholes!!

Buttonholes for your wedding Why are Buttonholes worn at weddings? Apart from them adding colour and giving the Groom a chance to get in on the Wedding Flowers!! It is believed that Buttonholes came to England in the medieval times. Knights of the realm would wear their bride’s colours to show ever-lasting love and commitment. While traditionally a carnation or a simple Rose buttonhole would suffice, larger buttonholes and more exotic flowers are now being used to complement the bridal flowers. Fashionable vintage look wedding are opting for simple gysophila buttonholes for the Groomsman to complement gypsohila bouquets held by the bridesmaids. At Katie Alice Floral Design we love hearing about all of your ideas for the big day. Working along side you to create the most fabulous floral creations to complement your Wedding.

Congratulations Esther & Josh!

Wedding Flowers

Last Friday I had the honour of creating the wedding flowers for the lovely Esther and Josh. I have known Esther since she was a little girl so this wedding was all the more special, to see her blossom into the most beautiful bride. At Esther wedding consultation we discussed how she wanted her bouquet to be loose and wild with lots of foliage and a touch of yellow. This would complement her love of Lord of the Rings (sorry Esther I’ve still not seen it!) Her seven stunning bridesmaid carried simple hand tied posies of Gypsophila. The wedding ceremony was held at Loughborough Register office followed by an evening reception at The Plough, Normanton on Soar. The bride and Groom celebrated in style into the night, I know I was there!!! Congratulations to you both and thank you for allowing me to pay my part in your special day. https://theploughnormanton.co.uk/

Creating Corporate Floral Designs!

Flower Centrepieces

This week has given me another opportunity to create table centrepieces for a corporate dinner event. For the Event taking place at Loughborough University they wanted something abit different but still incorporating flowers, in the Loughborough university colours of pink and purple. Having worked with the university before on events such as Christmas parties and Graduation ceremony week I understand what their expectations are. The brief for these floral centrepieces was terracotta plant pots!! I think they turned out very bright and cheerful just what we needed after the snowy week. Spring is nearly here!!
